· Qualified
Institutional Buyers (QIB)- Qualified
institutional buyers “QIBs” are large sophisticated investors, such as the insurance companies' mutual funds, pension funds, & hedge funds, who have the
expertise & resources to evaluate the investment opportunities & are allowed to
price shares lower than that offered by retail investors.
· Non-Institutional
Investors (NII) - Non-institutional investors
(NIIs), on the other hand, generally consist of individual investors, high net
worth individuals "HNIs", or Companies that do not meet the financial criteria and should be classified as QIBs and allowed to the participate in IPOs at the same
price as retail investors.
NII category has two subcategories:
1. sNII -
sNII" means "small
non-institutional investor". This sub-category includes investors who have
created shares of ₹2 lakh and ₹10 lakh in IPO.
2. bNII -
bNII means "large
non-institutional investor". This sub-category includes investors who have
created shares worth more than ₹10
lakh in IPO.
· Retail Individual Investors (RII) - Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) are individual investors
who apply for shares worth up to ₹2 lakh in the IPO to encourage vendor participation in the
IPO process.
· Employee (EMP)- The employee (EMP) category in an IPO is reserved for employees, directors, and associate employees of the issuing company, and the issuing company and the IPO's chief executive officer determine the allocation of shares in this category by the issuer company.

Others- An eligible group of shareholders or other investors
with a reserve number of IPOs.
