NRI Trading in India Guide

In India, NRIs are allowed to make investments or trade in the Indian Stock market on the Repatriation and non-repatriation basis. The NRIs can trade in various segments such as Equity, Equity F&O, Currency F&O at both the national Exchanges i.e. NSE and BSE. NRIs can also make investments in Mutual funds, NCD, IPO, G-Sec and the T-Bills.

 
 
Important points to keep in mind while trading as an NRI:
  • To trade or invest on the repatriation basis, an NRI needs to hold a NRE PIS Bank Account.
  • To trade or invest on the non-repatriation basis, an NRI needs to hold a NRO Non-PIS bank account.
  • An NRI can hold to open both a trading and a demat account to make investments in the Indian Stock Market.
  • NRIs are allowed to trade in the Currency derivative segment.
  • NRIs are not allowed to trade in Equity Intraday and Commodities.
