- Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB)- Qualified
Institutional Buyers (QIBs) are typically large investors with the financial
expertise, such as the mutual funds, insurance companies, pension funds & hedge
funds, who are considered to have expertise & resources will evaluate
to investment opportunities QIBs have to comply with the certain investment
norms laid down by the Securities & Exchange Board of India “SEBI” in order
to participate in the IPO.
- Non-Institutional Investors (NII) - Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs), on the other hand, are usually individual investors, high net of worth individuals “HNIs”, or institutions without financial standards to be closed as QIBs. They can participate in IPO initial Public offering at the same price as retail investors.
NII category has two subcategories:
- sNII - "sNII" means "Small Non-Institutional Investor". This sub-category includes investors who have created shares of Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh in IPO.
- bNII - "bNII" means "large investor other than institutional investor". This sub-category includes investors who have created shares worth more than Rs. 10 lakh in IPO.
- Retail Individual Investors (RII) - Retail individual investors (RIIs) are people who invest in IPOs every day by applying for shares worth up to Rs. 2 lakh. This helps more regular investors take part in IPOs.
- Employee (EMP)- In an IPO, the category of Employees “EMP” is reserved for the employees, directors & associate employees of the issuing company, & the shares to be allocated to this category by the issuing company does the main administrator of the IPO determine the.
- Others- Certain groups of qualified shareholders or other investors who again.
