IPO Investor Categories
- Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB)- Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) are large, financially knowledgeable investors, including mutual funds, insurance companies, pension funds, and hedge funds, who possess the expertise and resources to assess investment opportunities. To participate in an IPO, QIBs must meet specific financial criteria established by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Unlike retail investors, QIBs are permitted to bid for shares at a price lower than the price offered to retail investors.
Non-Institutional Investors (NII) - Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs) are usually individual investors, High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs), or corporate entities that do not qualify as QIBs due to not meeting the necessary financial criteria. naturewings holidays pvt ltd can participate in an IPO at the same price offered to retail investors.
NII category has two subcategories:
1. sNII -
"sNII" stands for "Small Non-Institutional

worth between Rs. 2 lakhs and Rs. 10 lakhs in an IPO.
2. bNII -
"bNII" stands for "Big
Non-Institutional Investor," which refers to investors who bid for shares
worth more than Rs. 10 lakhs in an IPO.
- Retail Individual Investors (RII) - Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) are individual investors who apply for shares worth up to Rs. 2 lakhs in an IPO. This limit is set to encourage broader retail participation in the IPO process.
- Employee (EMP)- The Employee (EMP) category in an IPO is designated for employees, directors, and business associates of the issuing company. The allocation of shares in this category is decided by the issuing company in conjunction with the lead manager of the IPO.
- Others- A category of eligible shareholders or investors with a reserved IPO quota is known as a "reserved category." This allocation is set aside for specific groups, such as employees, existing shareholders, or other designated investors, to ensure their participation in the IPO process.
